During his later years, French artist Henri Matisse was unable to leave his bed and was very sad not to be able to paint. Kindergarten students looks at his later works of art in which he reinvented himself by “drawing with scissors”.
In this new style, he was able to paint paper, cut out shapes, and then arrange them to create his images.
The book “Drawing With Scissors” was read during art class and we began our exploration of arranging colors and shapes to create our own drawing with scissors.
First and second graders also stretched themselves create imaginative titles to their works of art. This project was a lot of fun!
